When I was a kid, I used to tell everyone that if I didn’t become a surgeon, I’d either be a Disney animator or a National Geographic photographer. Hand-drawn animation disappeared, and life led me to pediatric surgery instead—a job I love, but one that still competes with me chasing wild, remote places with a camera in hand. My grandfather gave me my first camera back in middle school, and I was hooked. I’m old enough to have started in the darkroom, developing my own black-and-white photos, and I probably moved to digital slower than most. These days I focus on landscapes, wildlife, and travel, chasing fleeting moments and strong composition. I’m driven to keep challenging myself and growing as a photographer, but my favorite places to shoot remain the ones that feel a little harder to reach, far from crowds, where patience and a bit of luck can turn into a photo you won’t find anywhere else. I avoid the quick-hit Instagram mentality; my favorite photos are the ones that tell a story and share the excitement and feeling of a place, showcasing what makes it unique.
